Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father's divorce from the family members, she was brought to maturity by her mother, grandparents, and godparents. In her childhood Ford experienced anxiety related to an obsessional disorder. Ford began acting during her teens and became part of the National Youth Theatre. Ford gained entry to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, however, she decided after one week that she was a poor fit there. Ford rather applied to the Central School of Speech and Drama, finally winning an acceptance on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's classmates. He was later to play recurring roles as Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993. She already made a TV appearance in a 1992 episode of Surgical Spirit. She adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate began her TV debut in the year 1991, appearing on shows like The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. and London's Burning. Tate also regularly worked in the theatre, and later joined the Royal Shakespeare Company during its season between 2000 and 2001. Tate's stand-up humor that she started adding to her show in 1996, soon gained the attention of her peers.
