Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina debuted with sly hip-hop tracks that addressed sexuality and identity with a comical wit before broadening her presence to Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her first musical encounter. She was a trumpet player. Classical, jazz and hip-hop education began when she was just a teenager. As a student, she majored in journalism, and women's studies, and was learning Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. It wasn't until after graduating that she shifted her focus to music. Her hit song My Vag, a response track to the Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity through the Internet during 2012. It was eventually included on her first album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. This album also featured songs that were viral such as body positive Queef or her wink-inducing hometown tour NYC Bitche$. The latter song was linked directly to another project, Awkwafina's NYC A travel guide that was released in the year 2015. Following her success as a performer and author She was able to accept the character of an actor. Along with the early TV shows such as Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films such as Neighbors to Storks. Her breakthrough came in the year 2018 when she appeared in a number of notable films like Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. Her EP came out,"At Fina We Trust in June of the same year.
